Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya arrives in India on a three-day visit.
In a post on X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) wrote said: “PM @Dr_HariniA of Sri Lanka has arrived in New Delhi on her maiden visit to India as PM of Sri Lanka. The visit continues the tradition of regular and close engagements between both India and Sri Lanka, strengthening the deep-rooted bonds of friendship.”
During her three-day visit, the Sri Lankan PM will hold meetings with Indian political leaders to discuss a broad range of bilateral issues.
Amarasuriya, who is also Sri Lanka’s Education Minister, will visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and NITI Aayog to explore opportunities for partnership in education and technology. The Sri Lankan prime minister, a notable alumni of Delhi University’s Hindu College, will also pay a visit to her alma mater.
Additionally, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister will attend a business event aimed at strengthening commercial ties between the two countries.
According to the MEA, this visit builds on India and Sri Lanka’s long history of regular high-level exchanges, promoting the two countries’ strong and multifaceted connections. It would enhance the links of friendship, which are reinforced by India’s ‘MAHASAGAR Vision’ and ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.
