Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The benchmark equity indices closed the trading session on a lower note on August 06. The BSE Sensex lost 13.42 points, or 0.02%, to end the day’s trade at 78,746. The NSE Nifty 50 closed 21.45 points, or 0.09% lower, at 24,034.15. The Bank Nifty closed at 49,770.55, down 0.64% or 322 points on the day. Similarly, the Nifty Midcap 100 closed 290 points, or 0.52% lower at 55,567.65.

As of noon on August 6, 2024, a total of 2,546 stocks advanced on the BSE, while 1,195 declined and 136 remained unchanged. Out of the 3,877 stocks traded, 170 reached a 52-week high, and 26 hit a 52-week low. Additionally, 230 stocks were trading at their upper circuit limits, and 218 stocks were at their lower circuit limits.
The NSE Nifty 50 was up 177 points or 0.74% at 24,233, while the BSE Sensex was up 571 points or 0.73% at 79,330.
The NSE Nifty 50 opened 0.96% higher at 24,287.35, while the BSE Sensex opened 0.98% higher at 79,531.32.
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the dollar against a basket of six foreign currencies, traded down by 0.26% to 102.95.
Shares in the Asia-Pacific region are trading mixed on Tuesday morning. The Asia Dow is down by 6.50%, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 is in the green, up by 8.76%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index is higher by 1.08%, and the benchmark Chinese index, the Shanghai Composite, is also in the green, up by 0.44%.

Traders scrambled to hedge against market volatility during a global selloff fueled by U.S. recession fears, reported Returns. The S&P 500 fell 160.23 points, or 3%, to 5,186.33, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1,033.99 points, or 2.60%, to 38,703.27.
