Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The benchmark equity indices continued closing on a lower note for the third consecutive session on October 16. The BSE Sensex lost 351 points, or 0.43%, to end at 81,468. The NSE Nifty 50 index closed 98 points, or 0.39% higher, at 24,959. The Bank Nifty closed 0.21% lower at 51,796. The Nifty Midcap 100 ended the session 205 points, or 0.34% lower, at 59,388.
The NSE Nifty 50 closed 0.39% lower at 24,959.15, while the BSE Sensex closed 0.43% lower at 81,468.41.
HDFC Life Insurance, Dr Reddy’s Lab, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, and Grasim Industries were the top gainers in the Nifty 50. Meanwhile, Trent, M&M, Infosys, Hero MotoCorp, and Adani Ports were the major losers in the Nifty 50 on October 16.
Godrej Properties, DLF, Phoenix, Macrotech Developers, and Mahindra Lifespace Developers were the top contributors to the upside of Nifty Realty on October 16.

Among the top gainers in the market today were HDFC Life, which rose by 2.20%, followed by Grasim at 1.22%, HDFC Bank at 1.13%, Bajaj Auto at 1.03%, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, which gained 1.01%.
On the losing side, Trent saw the biggest drop, declining by 3.30%, followed by M&M with a 2.92% fall. Nestle India dropped 1.97%, Hero Motocorp slipped 1.74%, and Titan ended 1.53% lower.
The NSE Nifty 50 was down 100 points or 0.40% at 24,957 while the BSE Sensex was down 300 points or 0.40% at 81,492.
The NSE Nifty 50 opened 0.24% lower at 24,997.35, while the BSE Sensex opened 0.26% lower at 81,604.60.
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the dollar against a basket of six foreign currencies, traded down at 103.20
WTI crude prices are trading at $70.80 jumped by 0.31%, while Brent crude prices are trading at $74.49 up by 0.32%, on Wednesday morning.
Wall Street’s major stock indexes closed lower on Tuesday, with a 1% drop in the technology-heavy Nasdaq leading losses as chip stocks tumbled on demand concerns while the energy sector fell 3% as oil prices dropped, reported Reuters. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ended down by 187.10 points or 1.01% at 18,315.59 The S&P 500 ended lower by 44.59 points or 0.76% at 5,815.26, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading down by 7.27 point or 0.02% at 42,733.15.
