To commemorate International Women’s Day, the Odisha government on Saturday launched the second payment of the Subhadra Yojana.
During a special occasion conducted at Ambapua in Berhampur, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi handed Rs 5,000 to over 1 crore women beneficiaries.
The government has spent around Rs 5,000 crore on financial support for women under the plan.
In this second payment of the Subhadra Yojana, 1 crore 64 thousand women beneficiaries would receive financial assistance.
The occasion began with attendees presenting floral tributes to the statues of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Gokulananda Mallik, Minister of Commerce and Transport Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Aska MP Anita Subhadarshini, Berhampur Lok Sabha Member Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy, and District Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida were among those in attendance.
The Subhadra Yojana seeks to give financial security to women in Odisha, empowering them and enhancing their overall well-being.
