Honda plans to launch the City e:HEV in India next month. The hybrid sedan was unveiled earlier this month, and production of the City e:HEV began last week. Honda has now revealed that the price of the City e:HEV hybrid will be announced in India on May 4, 2022. This means that the City hybrid will be available in less than a week. The Citye:HEV is currently available for booking in India, with prices starting at 5,000 on the company’s Indian website. Customers can also reserve the hybrid sedan by visiting a Honda dealership, but the cost will be more than $5,000.When it is released, the City will have no direct competitors in the segment but will command a significant premium over the regular City.
The Honda City e:HEV retains the same styling as the standard model, with the exception of blue surrounds for the Honda logo, a redesigned front grille, rear diffuser, trunk spoiler, and new fog lamp garnish. It also has the same interior layout as the regular model, but instead of the all-black treatment available with the regular model, it uses an ivory and black theme. The City e:HEV, on the other hand, comes standard with Honda Sensing Tech, which includes advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, collision mitigation system, lane departure warning, and more. Other features include a seven-inch TFT instrument panel screen, an electric sunroof, ambient lighting, automatic air conditioning, automatic full LED headlamps, rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, and an eight-inch touchscreen, and more are taken from the regular Honda City.
The Honda City e:HEV hybrid will be powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine capable of producing 97 bhp and 127 Nm on its own. This engine, however, will be coupled to two electric motors, one of which will serve as an integrated starter-generator (ISG) and the other as a traction motor capable of producing 107 bhp to power the wheels. Depending on the speed of the vehicle, the sedan can run on pure electric power, hybrid power (using the engine to generate electricity as well as torque assist from the battery), or solely on gasoline power ( at high speeds).
Honda claims that the City e:HEV has a combined peak power of 124 bhp and a combined peak torque of 253 Nm, with a claimed fuel economy of 26.5 km/l. As a result, it is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the country.
