The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office has forecast moderate thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in several districts of Odisha over the next five days.
Meteorological conditions are becoming favorable for moderate thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty surface wind, and scattered rainfall to fairly widespread rainfall over the districts of Odisha within the next five days, according to the MeT office.
“People are advised to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Also, harvesting of Rabi crops is advised to regulate judicially,” the IMD said.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, and Boudh districts, with dry weather expected in the rest of Odisha.
On Wednesday, a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning was issued for one or two locations in the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Angul.
