The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘Yellow’ warning on Saturday for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, which are expected to occur in various areas of Odisha districts until April 18.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely in the afternoon/evening hours in a few places across the districts of Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and one or two places across the districts of Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur. On April 13, dry weather is expected to prevail in Odisha’s remaining districts.
The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, which are highly likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours in one or two locations over Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in the afternoon/evening hours on April 14 in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada, as well as in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh. Dry weather is expected to persist in the remaining districts of Odisha.
The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 30-40 kmph in the afternoon/evening hours in one or two locations across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
On April 15 and 16, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkan. Dry weather is expected to persist in the remaining districts of Odisha.
The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph across Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh, which are expected to occur in the afternoon/evening. Heavy rainfall is also expected in one or two locations across Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Furthermore, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 30-40 kmph are highly likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours in one or two locations across Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
On April 17, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at many places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Dry weather is expected over the rest of the districts of Odisha.
The IMD also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, which are expected to occur in the aforementioned districts.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in the afternoon/evening hours on April 18 and 19 in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, and Deogarh districts. Dry weather is expected to persist in the remaining districts of Odisha.
No major change in maximum temperature (daytime temperature) is forecast over the next three days. However, temperatures across Odisha’s districts are expected to drop by 2-3°C following that.
