Toyota unveiled the Fortuner GR Sport in Indonesia last month. The Fortuner GR Sport is now available in India for Rs 48.3 lakh from the Japanese automaker (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, unlike the Indonesia-spec model, which is based on the regular Fortuner, the Fortuner GR Sport that was introduced in the country is based on the Legender variant. The GR Sport takes its name from Gazoo Racing (Toyota’s racing and high-performance division) and is the SUV’s sportier counterpart. If you’re familiar with Toyota’s previous lineup, you’ll recall that the TRD Sportivo trim was once available, but it has since been replaced by the GR Sport.
The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport is the sportier variant of the Fortuner Legender, with a bi-tone radiator grille, redesigned air dam, GR badging, and 18-inch black alloy wheels. In addition, the GR-Sport model has body-colored trim between the tail lights and red brake callipers with the GR logo. The interior of the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport is black with suede trims, GR badging on the seat headrests, and a leather-wrap steering wheel with red stitching.
The feature list, on the other hand, is based on the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 variant. This includes an eight-inch touchscreen, connected car technology, smartphone connectivity, a 4.2-inch multi-information display (MID), wireless phone charging pad, kick-activated boot opening system, cruise control, three driving modes, dual-zone AC, JBL sound system, and other features. The Toyota Fortuner GR-Sport has seven airbags, vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, traction control system, hill-assist control, reversing camera, and other safety features.
The 2.8-litre diesel engine in the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport produces 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. This engine is equipped with a torque-converter automatic transmission and paddle shifters. The SUV has a 4X4 system with a lockable differential and both High and Low gears.
