Ukraine has received $1.5 billion in grant aid from the United States, as announced by the Ukrainian Finance Ministry on Facebook.
According to the ministry, the funding is the first installment of a $4.5 billion grant provided by the US government to Ukraine through the World Bank’s Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance in Ukraine project.
The funds will be used to pay pensions for the elderly, social assistance, medical expenses, and other payments, according to the statement.
According to the World Bank’s website, the bank has mobilized nearly $17.8 billion in emergency financing to assist Ukraine in dealing with the economic consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Out of this sum, 11.4 billion of financing has been disbursed.
