On the eve of India’s G20 presidency, the United Nations Foundation (UN Foundation) and the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water (CEEW, India) have announced the Next Generation India Fellowship.
This fellowship provides a unique opportunity for young Indian thinkers and leaders to receive firsthand experience in understanding and addressing the world’s most serious issues.
The Next Generation India Fellowship is part of the UN Foundation’s Our Future Agenda program and CEEW’s emphasis on public policy careers. This fellowship is specifically meant to elicit creative, unconventional, and substantive ideas from India’s young for a sustainable future.
As per the official release, this fellowship will be for two years, It will foster honest conversations about the ‘One Future’ theme of the G20 presidency, build consensus around a ‘future agenda’ for young Indians, and explore options for investing in their generation and protecting the needs and rights of future generations.
Public health, sustainable cities, innovative technologies, culture and communities, gender equality, the future of the workforce, affordable and clean energy, and oceans are among the focus topics of the fellowship. Fellows will obtain a greater grasp of policymaking, strategic planning, and global diplomacy through the UN Foundation, CEEW, and partner resources’ experience and mentorship.
Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy have directly supported it through a contribution to CEEW.
