UPSC Prelims 2024 Registration: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on March 5 extended the registration deadline for Civil Services Examinations (CSE) 2024. As per the official announcement, the last date for registration has been extended till March 6 (6 pm).
Eligible and interested candidates can apply online at the official website – upsconline.nic.in.
“The last date for submission for CS(P)-IFoS(P)-2024 has been extended till 06-03-2024 (06:00 PM),” the official website stated.
The official announcement, which was released in the middle of February, states that the UPSC CSE preliminary exam would take place on May 26, 2024, while the main exam will take place over five days starting on September 20.
Although the Commission announced 1,056 openings for the civil services test this year, there were less openings than there were in the previous year (1,055), 712 in 2021, and 796 in 2020.
Eligibility
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2024 i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than August 2, 1992 and not later than August 1, 2003, UPSC said while releasing the CSE notification.
A candidate, according to UPSC, must hold a graduate degree from any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification to become eligible for UPSC CSE 2024 exam.
The UPSC CSE exam is held in three stages — prelims, mains and the personality test. The preliminary test for UPSC CSE will have objective-style questions. Those who achieve higher than the minimum qualifying score can apply for the UPSC IAS Main test. UPSC CSE Main will be detailed in the interim. Candidates will be chosen for the various services and positions through an interview process that will take place after the CSE Mains exam.
