The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will issue a full announcement for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025 on January 22, 2025. IAS and IFS candidates can fill out the UPSC CSE Prelims application form at upsc.gov.in and https://upsconline.nic.in. On May 25, 2025, the Commission will hold the Civil Services Prelims test. The deadline for submitting the online application form is February 11.
Candidates must apply online by the website upsconline.nic.in. The applicant must first register himself or herself at the One Time Registration (OTR) platform, which is available on the Commission’s website, before proceeding to fill out the online examination application. The Civil Services Examination will consist of two subsequent stages (see Appendix I, Section I).
- (i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination; and
- (ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts
Candidates will be recruited for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Civil Accounts Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Corporate Law Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Defence Accounts Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Defence Estates Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Information Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Postal Service, Group ‘A’, Indian P&T Accounts and Finance Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Railway
Every candidate who appears for the examination and is otherwise eligible will be allowed six (6) attempts at the CSE. Candidates in the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD categories who are otherwise eligible will be granted a waiver of the number of attempts. The number of attempts available to such applicants as per relaxation is as under,
