UPSC CSE Application Form 2024: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) started the application process for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (CSE Pre) 2024. The UPSC has made available on upsc.gov.in the CSE preliminary application form as well as the syllabus, exam pattern, and complete information bulletin for this year.
In contrast to past years, when the Commission simply required a passport-sized photo to be uploaded in a specific size, this year the Commission has included multiple guidelines about the upload of a photo in the UPSC CSE application form 2024.
Recent changes
As a first, the Commission has asked the candidates to upload photographs not older than 10 days from the start of the online application process. Therefore, candidates will have to make sure that the photographs are taken before February 4, 2024.
Also, the name of the candidate and the date on which the photograph was taken must be mentioned clearly on the photograph, the Commission added.
The faces of the candidates should also occupy three-fourths of the space in the photograph, the official notification said.
The Commission has also asked the candidates to make sure that their appearance matches their photograph at each stage of the examination process – preliminary, main (written) and interview or personality test.
Citing an example, the the Commission said: “For instance, If a candidate uploads a bearded photograph, he must appear with the same look in the Preliminary, Main (Written) and Interview/ Personality Test. The same would be the case with spectacles, moustaches, etc.”
The size of the candidate’s scanned images of the passport-sized photograph and signature must be in the .jpg format and each file should be between 20 KB and 300 KB.
Commission has notified a total of 1,056 vacancies for CSE and 150 for IFoS this year. The UPSC CSE 2024 prelims exam is set to be held on May 26. Candidates scoring above the cut-off marks in CSE prelims will become eligible to register for the main examination. The mains will be descriptive and will be conducted from September 20 for five days.
