Rain is expected in portions of Odisha on December 4 and 5 as a result of a low-pressure region that is expected to build into a cyclonic storm by December 5.
“Light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over south Coastal and adjoining south Interior Odisha on 4th and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over the same region on 5th December,” a weather bulletin stated.
Parts of Tamil Nandu will experience light to moderate rain on December 2 and 3 while very heavy rainfall activities are predicted in Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on December 3 and 4.
On Saturday, the depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal traveled west-northwestwards and strengthened into a deep depression.
During the next 24 hours, it is expected to move west-northwestwards and build into a Cyclonic Storm over the Southwest Bay of Bengal. It would then proceed northwest, reaching the westcentral Bay of Bengal off the beaches of south Andhra Pradesh and neighboring north Tamilnadu by the forenoon of December 4.
Following that, it would proceed roughly northwards, practically parallel and close to the south Andhra Pradesh beaches, and cross the South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Nellore and Machilipatnam as a Cyclonic Storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph on December 5th.
