Odisha is experiencing winter again after a short respite. More than 15 locations reported Sunday lows of less than 15°C due to a sharp drop in the minimum temperature (nighttime temperature) over the previous 24 hours, according to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, which released its report on Monday.
Last night’s minimum temperatures below 10°C were recorded in a number of locations in the districts of Koraput and Kandhamal. At 7.5°C, G Udayagiri was the coolest. 8.3°C was the lowest recorded temperature in Koraput; 9.5°C and 10°C were reported in Daringbadi and Phulbani, respectively; Angul recorded 11°C, Nabarangpur and Kirei recorded 11.4°C, while Semiliguda recorded 11.5°C.
Minimum temperatures in the twin cities of Cuttack (15°C) and Bhubaneswar (16.2°C) fell by 2°C to 3°C.
The weather service predicts that the following three to four days will likely be chilly. Generally speaking, Odisha will experience dry weather at this time.
In the meantime, visibility was only 50–200 meters due to intense fog that developed in several parts of the state. Fog alerts have been issued by the IMD for multiple locations in the districts of Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.
