Bhubaneswar: Today the Odisha decided to reopen educational institutions in the State for students from Class VIII onwards from February 7, 2022. This was informed by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra today.
Mahapatra said the decision to reopen schools, colleges and other educational institutions has been taken considering the larger interest of students.
He further said physical classes for students of KG up to Class VII will resume from February 14, 2022.
Short-term training and skill development training centres will reopen from February 7. Hostels associated with the educational institutions and training centres will reopen as well from Monday, the Chief Secretary informed.
The educational institutions under the Higher Educational Department will also reopen from February 7.
Different departments will issue separate SOPs for the institutions and training centres functioning under their purview.
In another major decision, Mahapatra said the class promotion of students from KG up to Class 9 will be done on basis of classroom assessment mark. For promotion of students from Standard 11 to Standard 12 will be done through class assessment as well.
Students of Class 10 and 12 will appear exam conducted by concerned board and council as per their guidelines, the Chief Secretary added.
The educational institutions under the Higher Education Department will conduct exams as per the guidelines issued by the government before January 10, 2022.
The schools and colleges have been also directed to conduct bridge course and short-term course to make up the loss of study of students during the past two years.
The institutions can also decrease the summer vacation period if the need arises, he added.
