Yash Dhull, who led India to the U19 World Cup title on February 4, dominated the Tamil Nadu bowling attack, stepping up under pressure after Delhi were reduced to 7/2 after Vijay Shankar won the toss and opted to field on Day of their Ranji Trophy opener.
Yash Dhull hit 16 boundaries in a stroke-filled innings as he stamped his authority against a high-quality Tamil Nadu bowling attack, showcasing the ease with which he has taken to first-class cricket. Notably, Dhull was caught at mid-wicket when he was batting on 97 but the bowler, M Mohammed had overstepped.
After the fall of the 3rd wicket, Dhull kept the momentum and has so far accumulated over 100 runs for the 4th wicket with Jonty Sidhu. Ranji Trophy will be played in two phases. The opening batsman will not have much time to rest as he will join Delhi Capitals’ camp after the first phase. The 2nd phase will start on May 30. IPL 2022 is set to be played from the last week of March to May.
With this knock, Dhull has now become a part of an elite list of Indian players who have smashed a century on their Ranji Trophy debut. The legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Amol Mujumdar, Rohit Sharma feature on the list.
The swashbuckling youngster will be sharing the dressing room with Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw after Delhi Capitals snapped him up for Rs 50 lakh.
