Presidential Poll: CM Naveen Patnaik Urges Odisha MLAs To Support Draupadi Murmu

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik  urged all MLAs in the Odisha Legislative Assembly to support Draupadi Murmu’s candidacy for President of India.

In a tweet, the Odisha CM stated:

Appeal all the members of Odisha Legislative Assembly, cutting across party lines, to extend unanimous support to elect the daughter of #Odisha – Smt #DraupadiMurmu to the country’s highest office.

Murmu, a former Jharkhand Governor and ex-Odisha Minister, has been named as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDAcandidate )’s for the upcoming Presidential elections.

Murmu will face Yashwant Sinha, the candidate of the opposition. Following the expiration of President Ram Nath Kovind’s term, an election to fill the office is scheduled for July 18, with voting taking place on July 21.
