The state government would speed damage assessments in rain and flood-affected districts and offer compensation before Dussehra, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced on Friday.
The Minister has directed all relevant ministries and district administrations to submit damage reports by October 10.
He stated that Rs 261 crore has been disbursed as compensation in the first round, including Rs 20 crore for South Odisha. He stated that the final compensation will be released once the comprehensive reports are received.
Meanwhile, Chandbali BDO Sanjib Kumar Mahapatra has been suspended for incompetence during the floods. He has been assigned to the district headquarters. “Negligence by government officials during a natural disaster is unpardonable,” Minister Pujari stated.
The Minister also thanked all personnel engaged in flood management, including ASHA and Anganwadi workers, NDRF, ODRAF and government officials and staff.
