Commonwealth Games 2022, Day-6 (August 3) Highlights:
India had a fantastic day on Wednesday, winning 5 medals to bring their total to 18 at CWG 2022.
Late on Wednesday, Tejaswin Shankar opened the Indian athletics team’s medal tally with a bronze in the men’s high jump event at the Commonwealth Games. Shankar, the national record holder, finished 3rd in the event.
Judoka Tulika Maan then lost her Gold medal contest and settled for silver in the 78 + kg category in Judo.
Lovepreet Singh won bronze in men’s 109 kg on Wednesday, continuing India’s medal run in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games.
To finish third on the podium, the 24-year-old from Punjab lifted a total of 355 kg, including a new national record of 192 kg in clean and jerk. In one snatch, he lifted 163kg.
Furthermore, Saurav Ghosal won India’s first singles medal in squash, a bronze, breaking a long-standing curse.
