According to preliminary official results as of 10.30 a.m., the AAP leads in 126 wards and the BJP leads in 96 seats in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections on December 4.
Meanwhile, the Congress leads in 11 wards, the Independent in three, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) each in one.
As the trends showed AAP leading, a large number of party workers began congregating in the party’s headquarters here.
The BJP has won six wards, while the AAP has won four. The second round of EVM vote counting has begun.
Counting for the civic agency’s 250 wards began at 8 a.m. on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements at 42 centres.
There are a total of 1,349 candidates in the fray.
The AAP is expected to win big, according to exit polls. The BJP has been in power in the MCD for the past 15 years, and it ran a high-pitched campaign in which senior BJP leaders campaigned.
According to exit polls released on Monday, AAP is expected to win 20 of the 30 wards in Chandni Chowk, while the BJP is expected to win 10.
AAP may win 22 of the 36 wards in East Delhi, while the BJP may win 14. The AAP is expected to win 21 of the 25 wards in New Delhi, followed by the BJP with four.
According to the exit poll, 21 of the 41 wards in the North-East district will go to the BJP, with the remaining 21 going to the AAP at 17, Congress at 2, while 1 ward will go to others.
