The India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipated on Sunday the emergence of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal around July 4, resulting in heavy rain in Odisha and neighboring regions.
“A low-pressure area is likely to develop over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and coastal Odisha embedded in the monsoon trough around July 4. The system would subsequently move west-northwestwards over land,” the IMD said in a bulletin. The IMD has also issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in several Odisha districts.

July 3: Heavy rain is expected in one or two areas in the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi .
Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.
July 4: Heavy rain is expected in one or two areas in the Odisha districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
July 5: Heavy rain is expected in one or two locations in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, and Nuapada.
