Before departing for his first official visit to India since entering office following a dramatic political upheaval last year, Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe designated five interim ministers to oversee the areas he oversees.
Wickremesinghe arrived in India on Thursday for a two-day official state visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Before departing the nation, the President named five acting ministers: Shehan Semasinghe (Finance), Premitha Bandara Tennakoon (Defense), Dilum Amunugama (Investment Promotion), Kanaka Herath (Technology), and Anupa Pasqual (Women, Children Affairs, and Social Empowerment).
Wickremesinghe is slated to hold final round talks on a variety of India-supported initiatives in energy, infrastructure, and tourism during his visit.
