Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices: The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex ended higher, halting a two-day losing trend. The Nifty 50 closed at 19,753.8, up 107 points, while the Sensex closed at 66,527, up almost 360 points. The broader markets ended in the green, with the Nifty Midcap 100 up 0.97% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 up 0.88%, respectively. On Monday, the Nifty Auto, Nifty IT, Nifty Metal, and Nifty Oil & Gas all gained more than 1%. The sole losers were Nifty FMCG and Nifty Healthcare.
Gold rate is trading lower on Monday, while the silver rate is down 0.24%. On Multi Commodity Exchange, gold August futures were trading at Rs 59,660 per 10 grams, down Rs 125 or 0.21%. Silver July futures were trading lower by Rs 178 at Rs 73,881 per kg on MCX.
Oil prices hovered near three-month highs on Monday, set to post their biggest monthly gains in over a year on expectations that Saudi Arabia would extend voluntary output cuts into September and tighten global supply.
Shares in the Asia-Pacific region were trading in the green on Monday. China’s Shanghai Composite and Shenzhen Component surged 0.96% and 1.24% respectively. Japan’s Nikkei 225 jumped 1.9%. South Korea’s Kospi soared 1.14% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 1.84%. The Taiwan Weighted index recorded a gain of 0.62%.
All three major U.S. indexes ended the week with gains, after a slew of Big Tech earnings, economic data and central bank announcements boosted investor confidence in a soft landing for the U.S. economy, according to Reuters. S&P 500 advanced 0.99%, the Nasdaq Composite soared 1.90%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.55%.
