The United States has announced an additional $250 million in military support to Ukraine.
According to Xinhua, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement on Tuesday that the new package includes AIM-9M air defense missiles, munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, and over 3 million rounds of small arms ammunition.
The latest assistance is being provided in accordance with a previous instruction from President Joe Biden, who is invoking the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA). The weapons and equipment given through this manner are drawn directly from the DoD’s (Department of Defense) stockpiles for Ukraine.
According to a DoD list of the latest weaponry coming to Ukraine, this is the Biden administration’s 45th PDA-related military aid to Ukraine since August 2021.
According to the Department of Defense, the US has contributed more than $43.7 billion in military assistance to Ukraine since the Biden administration took office, including more than $43 billion since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022.
