Odisha observed the annual Local Self Government Day on Thursday by giving locals new authority and launching several benefit initiatives and projects for them. The celebration of Local Self Government Day, also known as ‘Swayat Shasan Dibas,’ commemorates the delegation of power to the people through the municipality or panchayat.
Congratulating the people of the state on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote on his X handle, “Best wishes to all on Local Self Government Day. Transparency and participation of all of us in the process of democratic governance will help deliver the benefits of governance to the people. Today, let us move forward with determination to achieve grassroots public health, sanitation infrastructure development, and general welfare work.”
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) marked the occasion by flying the national flag at the capital city’s BMC-ICOMC Tower. The BMC dedicated three AC Mahajatra vehicles, one animal lifting ambulance, five insect fogging vehicles, and ten mosquito oil sprayers to the residents on this occasion.
On the occasion of Swayat Shasan Dibas, or Local Self Government Day, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) wishes the people of the Silver City good health and happiness. In addition, the municipal council lay the groundwork for a library-cum-community hall (Biju Sabha Gruha) and smart walkway in Nuapada, an Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Nayabazar, and a new prefab smart library in Balisahi.
On August 28, the CMS officially launched seven projects and laid the foundation stones for two developmental projects to commemorate the occasion of Swayat Shasan Diwas in the presence of State Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain.
