Jasprit Bumrah, Pace spearhead he leader of the pace attack, has been left out of the Indian team for the fourth Test match against England in Ranchi, Jharkhand. This would allow the Gujarati pacer to recover from his previous three matches.
Bumrah’s decision to take a break was made with consideration for the length of the series and his recent cricket playing history, the BCCI said in a statement on Tuesday.
After being cut from the Rajkot squad for the third Test, Mukesh Kumar re-joined the Ranchi team. In the series of five matches, India is ahead 2-1.
After the third Test in Rajkot, there was conjecture that Bumrah would be rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi in order to control his workload. Bumrah was also part of the Indian squad in South Africa.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter K.L Rahul is ruled out of the fourth Test. His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness.
India’s updated squad for the 4th Test: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
