For the next 24 hours, most locations in Odisha should expect light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD’s most recent lunchtime weather advisory indicates that within the next 24 hours, thunderstorms with lightning are expected to occur in up to 23 districts in Odisha.
The districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur are extremely likely to have one or two thunderstorms with lightning, strong surface winds of 50–60 kmph, and hail. Additionally, the districts of Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, and Boudh are expected to have one or two instances of hail. Additionally, there’s a good chance of thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain (7–11 cm) in one or two locations over the districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur. The weather agency has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for the aforementioned districts.
The districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, and Sundargarh are also likely to experience one or two thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 30–40 kmph during the same period. The remaining districts of Odisha are also likely to experience one or two thunderstorms with lightning during the same period.
A “Yellow” alert has been issued by the IMD for the districts specified above.
The sky will mostly be cloudy with a few periods of rain or thundershowers throughout the course of the next 24 hours, according to the weatherman in Bhubaneswar and the surrounding area.
