Odisha is all set to experience hotter days after the interior regions of the state saw the coldest day of April on Thursday, shattering all previous records because of a sharp dip in daytime temperatures.
Based on the most recent forecast from the regional center of the India Meteorological Department, dry air from the west and north-west from April 13 would cause the daytime temperature to rise by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius over the following four days. By April 17, the temperature might reach 43 or 44 degrees Celsius.
Talking to the media, senior Scientist at IMD Bhubaneswar, Umasankar Das says, “Due to a trough in the middle and upper part of the atmosphere, there has been cloudy weather in Odisha. After April 13, the temperature will start rising and may reach 43-44 degrees by April 17. Higher humidity will remain in the coastal regions.”
It may be mentioned that cloudy skies, strong winds, and light rain in parts of Odisha kept the mercury in check on Thursday.
Under the influence of western disturbance, 10 districts experienced light rainfall activities.
