The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued heat wave to severe heat wave warning for several districts including twin city Bhubaneswar-Cuttack for next 24 hours.
Heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Balangir, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Angul, Jajpur, said a release of Bhubaneswar Meteorological centre.
Similarly, districts like Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Puri will also witness heat wave condition today due to rising temperature.
Severe heat and humid condition prevailed during morning hour in the State. Angul recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36 degrees C at 8.30 AM, followed by 35.5 in Bhawanipatna and 35.4 degrees in Talcher.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar also recorded maximum temperatures of 33.2 and 33.4 degrees by 8:30 am.
The mercury will touch over 44 degrees in some districts today, IMD informed.
