On Monday, kalbaisakhi caused a modest reduction in day temperatures (highest temperatures) in numerous districts of Odisha. However, some areas of western Odisha continue to boil due to intense weather conditions.
The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center in Bhubaneswar predicts that rain will intensify over Odisha beginning Tuesday. It has issued orange and yellow alerts for rainfall over the next three days.
Today, the meteorological office issued an orange warning for thunderstorms and lightning in five Odisha districts, as well as a yellow alert in 14 districts. Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, and heavy rain are expected in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal today.
Similarly, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput districts today.
Fishermen are urged not to venture into the sea in the state’s northern coastal zones.
Meanwhile, Balangir boiled at 44.5 °C on Monday, with seven sites reaching 43°C or above.
