The Subhadra Yojana, a major poll promise of the BJP during the recently concluded elections, will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17 on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made the announcement in Delhi while addressing the Odia community living in the national capital.
“The Subhadra Yojana will be launched on September 17 which is the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will visit Odisha and launch the scheme at a grand event in the presence of 5 lakh women from across the State,” Majhi said while addressing the Odia diaspora in New Delhi.
The ambitious initiative, which will give every woman a cash voucher worth Rs 50,000 to be encashed over two years, is now being implemented by the government. The program seeks to increase female entrepreneurship and empower women.
In the past, the State asked the Center for financial assistance in part to carry out the yojana.
Pravati Parida, the deputy chief minister, had earlier declared that the plan’s details were set.
Hours after the Subhadra Yojana was approved during the oath-taking ceremony, the first cabinet of the new BJP government was convened.
