The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts an increase in rainfall activity in the state beginning July 19, citing the emergence of a low-pressure region over southern Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
According to a press statement from IMD’s regional centre, “A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19, 2024.”
According to IMD data, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Koraput districts will most likely see heavy rainfall today, and a ‘Yellow Warning’ has been issued for these areas, suggesting high isolated rainfall.
Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast in numerous parts of South Odisha, as well as a few in North Odisha.
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected to occur at various places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, and Puri from July 18 to July 19.
