The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre predicts heavy to very heavy rain in Odisha today. The IMD has issued an orange warning to seven districts throughout the state, while 19 districts are on yellow alert.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, districts such as Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar are very likely to have heavy to very severe rainfall (7 to 20 cm) as well as thunderstorms with lightning.
Furthermore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuaapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj have received a yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning.
Tomorrow, districts comprising Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh, and Keonjhar will be under a yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning.
With the meteorological conditions in mind, the weather department has recommended individuals in the orange and yellow alert regions to keep an eye on the weather and migrate to safer places to avoid lightning.
