The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has forecast heavy rainfall in many Odisha districts on Wednesday and Thursday as a result of a new low-pressure system over the east central-north Bay of Bengal. An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued for four districts, with a yellow warning issued for 16 others across the state.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur from August 29 to 31. These areas are predicted to receive 70 to 200 mm of rain. A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for seven districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
Currently, a low-pressure region dominates north-west Jharkhand. It will progressively travel west-northwest, resulting in more rainfall across the state.
Another low pressure system will build over the east-central Bay of Bengal in Kalipa, with the greatest impact on southern Odisha.
