The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in 20 districts of Odisha until Friday due to a low-pressure region over the Bay of Bengal. All of these locations are likely to experience torrential rain (7-11 cm) accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
According to an IMD report, a low-pressure region has formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal and its bordering northwest off the coastlines of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha as a result of cyclonic circulation in the central Bay of Bengal.
According to the weather forecast, the low pressure region is anticipated to cause heavy rainfall in isolated locations in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
Thunderstorms with lightning may also strike isolated areas in Nuapada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Rayagada, according to the bulletin.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in ten districts of Odisha today. The districts are Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
On Thursday, heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is expected in isolated areas of the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Jajpur.
