Wet outfield conditions forced the cancellation of Day 3 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
Sunday’s game was also called owing to an overnight drizzle that created sloppy parts on the pitch. It had not rained since the morning, and by 9:30 a.m., all covers had been removed. The moist places on the outfield, including one near the bowlers’ run-up, could not be dried.
With the morning and lunch periods already gone, match referee Jeff Crowe undertook numerous inspections—first at 10 a.m., then at 12 p.m., and finally at 2 p.m.—but was left unsatisfied with the damp patches on the field, particularly in the deep mid-wicket area near Pavilion C.
The moist 30-yard circle was a source of concern. Crowe, along with backup umpire Virender Sharma and TV umpire Rod Tucker, agreed to call off the match rather than taking more time.
Earlier, the second day was called off due to heavy rain and a soggy outfield, resulting in no balls being bowled.
Bangladesh concluded Day 1 with 107 for 3 in 35 overs, with Mominul undefeated at 40 and Mushfiqur yet to score.
