The University Grant Commission (UGC) is expected to reveal the results of the National Eligibility Test (NET) re-exam for the June 2024 session shortly. Once the results are declared, candidates can check them at the official UGC NET website – ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
Candidates will require their application number and date of birth to view their UGC NET 2024 results. The process will be finished if candidates enter the right security code.
This year, the UGC NET June session was rescheduled and held from August 21 to September 4, following the cancellation of the June 18 exam. This was the conclusion of an inquiry, which had previously alleged that the paper was released on the darknet on June 16, two days before the test. However, it was then discovered that the exam might not have been leaked.
When the interim answer keys were ultimately given, students complained that they were riddled with inaccuracies, with up to 30 erroneous answers out of 150 total questions in several disciplines.
UGC NET is held twice a year, in June and December, to determine the eligibility of Indian candidates for Junior Research Fellowships, Assistant Professorships, and admissions to PhD programmes at institutions across the country.
The UGC-NET consists of two papers: the first is common to all candidates, while the second is subject-specific to the candidate’s specialism. The second paper is offered in 83 subjects.
Among the 83 subjects are Hindi, English, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Arabic, linguistics, Nepali, Marathi, Telugu, Urdu, Chinese, Dogri, Manipuri, Assamese, Gujarati, Persian, French, Spanish, Russian, Rajasthani, labor welfare, library and information science, mass communication, and journalism.
The combined duration of the two papers is three hours, and they are intended to be completed in one session with no breaks. Both papers include objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). A total of 150 questions are asked, including 50 in Paper 1 and 100 in Paper 2. There are no negative marks in the exam.
