The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar stated on Monday that some areas in northern Odisha may see light rain today, but the rest of the state would stay dry.
The meteorological department has also issued a yellow warning for severe fog in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal districts. On Tuesday, moderate fog is expected in one or two locations in the districts of Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. However, the weather will continue dry throughout the state until January 5.
Meanwhile, the winter chill is expected to increase starting tomorrow and last for three days. The nighttime temperature is expected to dip by 3°C-4°C, while the capital city of Bhubaneswar will likely reach 13°C. Sundargarh and Jharsuguda are anticipated to have extremely cold nights.
On January 3, a new low pressure area is expected to emerge in the Bay of Bengal, bringing further rain to Odisha’s coastal districts. Farmers have been told to elevate their paddy crop and dry it on the threshing floor.
