The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Warning for thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds (40-50 km/h), and hail across Odisha until February 24.
The IMD’s weather advisory predicts mild to moderate rain or thunderstorms in numerous places, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
Thunderstorms are also expected in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. However, dry weather is forecast in the rest of the state.
An Orange Warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning, strong winds (40-50 km/h), and hail, particularly in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore.
A Yellow Warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) in Angul, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
On February 25, light rain or thunderstorms are likely in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam, while the rest of the districts will remain dry. A Yellow Warning has been issued for thunderstorms and lightning in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Keonjhar.
The IMD has recommended people to keep informed about the weather and seek safe cover during thunderstorms to avoid lightning strikes.
There are no weather alerts after February 25.
The IMD also predicts no significant variations in the minimum temperature (night temperature) in Odisha during the next five days.
