Stock Market Highlights, Stock Market Today, Feb 24, 2025: The benchmark equity indices, the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty50, closed the week’s first trading session down, falling by more than 1% apiece. The 30-share Sensex fell as high as 856.65 points, or 1.14 percent, to close at 74,454.41. Today, the index fluctuated between 74,907.04 and 74,387.44 points.
The NSE Nifty50, like the Sensex, ended lower by 242.55 points, or 1.06 percent, at 22,553.35. On Monday, the Nifty50 reached a top of 22,668.05, and fell to a low of 22,518.80.
The day concluded in favor of the bears, as 38 of the 50 member companies of the Nifty50 fell, led by Wipro, HCL Tech, TCS, Infosys, and Bharti Airtel, which lost up to 3.70 percent. Meanwhile, Mahindra and Mahindra, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Nestle India were among the 12 constituent stocks that ended in the green, with gains extending up to 1.54 per cent.
The Nifty Smallcap100 and Nifty Midcap100 indices fell 1.02 percent and 0.94 percent, respectively, reflecting the benchmarks.
All NSE sectoral indices closed in the red, with the exception of Nifty Auto and FMCG. Nifty IT was the top laggard, with a 2.71 percent loss, followed by LTTS, LTIMindtree, Wipro, and HCL Tech. This was followed by the Nifty Pharma index, which fell 2.17 percent.
