The notification for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 will be released on April 17, after 3 p.m. The online application window will be open until May 7, with the deadline set at 11:55 p.m. The exam is set for June 15, with results announced on July 15.
Despite continuous criticism, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will administer NEET PG 2025 in a computer-based manner over two shifts.
Every year, about two lakh MBBS graduates take the NEET PG, contending for roughly 52,000 postgraduate medical seats across India.
Notably, last year, NEET PG was conducted in two shifts for the first time. The exam was held on August 11, with two shifts: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.
While the exam date has been set, many candidates have expressed reservations about the continued use of the two-shift arrangement. Students are advocating for a return to the original single-shift exam, noting irregularities in question paper difficulty and concerns about the fairness of the score normalization process.
The two-shift arrangement was originally implemented last year, replacing the long-standing single-session model. Although the NBEMS implemented a normalisation procedure to assure shift parity, the decision has sparked much controversy and displeasure. As of now, NBEMS has provided no official comment or indication of any adjustments to the exam schedule or efforts to resolve these issues.
