IND vs ENG Highlights, India vs England 3rd Test Day 5: Five unforgettable days of Test match cricket, concluding in tragic fashion. Mohammed Siraj was undone by a stroke of bad luck, and it was those razor-thin margins that allowed England to complete the comeback with a historic 22-run win at Lord’s and a 2-1 series lead heading to Manchester.
The third Test match between India and England at Lord’s hangs in the balance on Monday. Going into Day 5, it’s still anyone’s game, and both teams have equal chances. India’s target of 193 runs appeared to be an easy chore. However, the visitors lost four wickets in 17.4 overs and slumped to 58/4 at Stumps, leaving England in the contest. The hosts took three wickets in the final 30 minutes, resulting in pure drama. India began poorly, with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal removed for a duck. KL Rahul, who is still undefeated, attempted to maintain the lead alongside Karun Nair.
However, Nair made a mistake by giving away his wicket to Brydon Carse in the 13th over, going for 14 from 33 balls. Then the floodgates opened, as skipper Shubman Gill was greeted by a hostile England camp, who attacked him from the start. Gill faced nine balls, scored six runs, and then was caught in front by Carse.
On Day 5, Rahul (33*) will bat again, joined by new batsman Rishabh Pant. It is not the pair’s first time leading a fightback, as they did in the first innings. England will be relying on Carse and Archer to maintain their form from the previous day, when the former struck twice in four overs, bagging a maiden and conceding only 11 runs at an economy rate of 2.75. Meanwhile, Archer took a wicket and gave 18 runs in four overs at an economy rate of 4.50.
After both teams scored 387 in the first innings, India put pressure on England right away. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Siraj dismissed opening batsmen Zak Crawley (22) and Ben Duckett (12) early. Ollie Pope met a similar fate at number three, being trapped by Siraj for four off seventeen balls. England attempted to fight through a partnership between Joe Root (40) and Harry Brook (23). Root was joined by skipper Stokes (33), but the English order struggled to deal with Washington Sundar. Then, Sundar was assisted by Jasprit Bumrah to wipe away the lower order as England crumbled at 192. For India, Bumrah and Siraj took two wickets, with Sundar bagging four. Meanwhile, Nitish and Akash Deep picked a wicket each.
