Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor (NSA), met with Denis Manturov, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, in Moscow in a major event that highlights the two countries’ growing strategic alliance.
Doval and Manturov covered a wide range of topics during their discussion, including collaborative projects in strategic industries including metallurgy, the chemical industry, and civil aviation, as well as military-technical cooperation.
On Saturday, August 9, the Russian Embassy in India posted an update on the talks on Telegram, saying:
“Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov held a meeting with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval.
The implementation of collaborative projects in other important sectors, such as the manufacturing of civil aircraft, metallurgy, and the chemical industry, as well as current concerns of bilateral military-technical cooperation were discussed by the parties.
Doval had already met with Sergei Shoigu, the secretary of the Russian Security Council. Both parties looked about methods to improve collaboration in multilateral forums and strengthen strategic partnerships.
Ahead of this year’s bilateral meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of working together. They also discussed important global security concerns and Russia-India cooperation in international forums.
“On August 7, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Sergey Shoigu held talks with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval. The parties discussed ways to further strengthen the Russia-India special and privileged strategic partnership and emphasised the importance of joint efforts in preparation of the bilateral summit by the end of this year. They also discussed cooperation between Russia and India in multilateral formats and exchanged views on topical issues of international security,” the Russian Embassy in India posted on Telegram.
President Putin is scheduled to visit India later this month, and the meetings take place in the lead-up to the yearly bilateral summit between Russia and India.
Doval was welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Thursday, which was a pivotal day in the developing strategic alliance between Moscow and New Delhi.
