Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered authorities to expedite projects meant to increase entrepreneurship and job creation in Odisha on Wednesday after reviewing the operation of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department at Lok Seva Bhawan.
“The government is committed to providing all necessary support for the establishment and expansion of small enterprises,” the Chief Minister said, referring to the MSME sector as a major driver of economic growth and employment creation. In order to encourage more young people to pursue entrepreneurship, he urged the government to run comprehensive awareness campaigns. He also requested officials to move quickly to establish MSME parks in each district.
Majhi also emphasized the accomplishments of the Lakhpati Didi initiative, which has helped about 17 lakh women become independent business owners and entrepreneurs. He gave officials instructions to provide more assistance so they might expand their commercial and industrial enterprises.
The Chief Minister emphasized that government offices, schools, and universities should give priority to using furniture, uniforms, and other supplies made by state MSMEs in order to further support Odisha-based businesses.
In order to improve Odisha’s trade network, Majhi urged for improved air and marine freight services. He also gave authorities instructions to make it simpler for MSMEs to obtain bank loans by streamlining the disbursement process and conducting routine oversight.
Developing cluster-based projects, broadening the scope of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and boosting support for entrepreneurs through policy facilitation were among topics covered at the meeting.
More than 87 lakh people are employed by the more than 11 lakh MSMEs from Odisha that are currently listed on the Government of India’s Udyam Portal.
Among those present at the review meeting were Director Abolii Sunil Narwane, MSME Commissioner-cum-Secretary D. Prashant Kumar Reddy, MSME Minister Gokulananda Mallick, Principal Secretary to the CM Saswat Mishra, and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
