On Tuesday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi introduced “Ama Shasana” (Our Governance), a new public service project designed to improve welfare program delivery and increase community participation through direct input.
In front of senior bureaucrats and cabinet ministers, the chief minister opened the program at Lok Seva Bhawan. A special website, www.amashasana.odisha.gov.in, was also established to let people express their thoughts on how different government programs were being carried out.
“This is not just another scheme. It is a mission to take governance to the doorstep of every village,” CM Majhi said, adding that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
As part of Ama Shasana, citizens can contact a toll-free helpline (14471) or message via WhatsApp (7400221903) for grievance redressal and communication. The initiative also enables the Chief Minister and ministers to randomly call beneficiaries to directly gather feedback.
Shortly after the launch, Majhi interacted with several citizens, including a girl student who had received Rs 5,000 under the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme. In an effort to lower school dropout rates, the program, which was launched for the 2024–2025 school year, offers financial aid to ST students enrolled in Classes 9 and 11.
The student stated on the call that she purchased books, stationery, and necessities like shoes and a clothing with the money. CM Majhi promised to take prompt action if any problems emerged and inquired as to if any school officials had requested payment in order to process the benefit. He urged pupils to use the helpline or speak with him directly if they were having issues.
Majhi also spoke to a male beneficiary of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, inquiring about his experience and any challenges faced in accessing hospital services.
“The government is now reaching the people directly. This is a people’s government, guided by the people’s voice,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on social media platform X.
