President Droupadi Murmu concluded her three-day tour to Odisha on Wednesday by giving prayers at a Shiva temple in Ganjam district. She then took the Presidential Special Train to Bhubaneswar before flying back to New Delhi on a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft.
The President began the day with a visit to a Shiva temple near the Army Air Defence College in Golabandha, where she had stayed overnight after arriving in Ganjam by train on Tuesday. The rail journey was planned as a precautionary measure in response to the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy monsoon rainfall in Odisha.
After praying, Murmu boarded the Presidential Special Train to Bhubaneswar. Security was increased at both Berhampur and Bhubaneswar train stations to guarantee smooth operation during the President’s visit. Ganjam Collector Keerthi Vasan V stated that rigorous security measures had been put in place for the occasion.
After arriving in Bhubaneswar, the President boarded a special IAF aircraft at Biju Patnaik International Airport and flew to New Delhi. Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, and other top officials were at the airport to bid her farewell.
During her three-day visit, Murmu visited a variety of official and religious events throughout the state. She opened Jagadguru Kripalu University in Cuttack and went to Berhampur to pray at Maa Kandhuni Devi’s tribal shrine and the Shiva temple in Taptapani.
The visit highlighted the President’s ongoing connection with her home state through formal events and visits to cultural and religious sites.
