A well-defined low-pressure region has formed over the northwest and adjacent central Bay of Bengal, heading westward, according to the India Meteorological Department.
According to the most recent assessment, the system is expected to deepen into a depression over the northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, near the beaches of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh, within the next 24 hours.
“The low-pressure area over central parts of north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal moved westwards and lay as a well-marked low-pressure area over northwest and adjoining central Bay of Bengal at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 26th September. Moving further westwards, it is very likely to concentrate into a depression over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off South Odisha North Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 24 hours”, read the IMD bulletin.
The low-pressure system is likely to cross the beaches of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh early on September 27. As a result, heavy to extremely heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
