Stock Market Close Highlights, October 16, 2025: The Sensex and Nifty finished higher on Thursday, gaining for the second straight session on stock-specific movement during the ongoing Q2 results season.
The BSE Sensex closed at 83,467.66, up 862.23 points, or 1.04 percent, while the NSE Nifty50 was quoted at 25,585.3, up 261.75 points, or 1.03 percent.
On the BSE, Titan, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, and M&M were among the top gainers, with Infosys and Eternal (Zomato) the sole laggards.
Sectorally, every sector ended in green. Nifty FMCG was the biggest gainer, up 2.02 percent. The Nifty Auto, Bank, Consumer Durables, and Realty indices all gained more than 1%.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 and SmallCap 100 closed up 0.46 percent and 0.24 percent, respectively.
