Eight locations in Odisha reported nighttime temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius, indicating a significant drop in temperature throughout the state.
Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput, Kalahandi, Balangir, and Nabarangapur have all been affected by the cold wave, which was fueled by a dry and chilly air mass from northwest India.
According to the regional Meteorological Department, Daringibadi had a low of 11 degrees Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda with 11.7 degrees.
The regional Meteorological Centre predicts a further drop in temperatures of 2-3 degrees Celsius over the following two days, compounding the cold conditions in both steep and flat locations.
The cold wave is predicted to worsen, drawing on the chill across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.
Daringbadi’s temperature fell from 15 degrees Celsius on November 6 to 13 degrees on November 7, a 2-degree decrease. It dropped to 12 degrees on November 8 and 11 degrees on November 9, representing a daily reduction of 1 degree.
